Academic Excellence Award

Academic Achievement Award | University Selection

Undergraduate No Individual Application Required

Each semester, the University selects recipients based on academic performance in the preceding semester. Undergraduate recipients receive a certificate and may also receive a scholarship subject to available funding.

Basic RequirementsAt least 9 credits completed in the semester and a GPA of 3.7 or above.
Number of Recipients1 recipient for classes of 20 or fewer; 2 for classes of 21–40; 3 for classes of 41 or more.
FrequencyOnce per semester.
Tie-breaking and Other Provisions
  • If tied students exceed the class quota, ranking is determined in order by credits earned that semester, cumulative credits earned, and cumulative GPA.
  • Recipients remain eligible to apply for other scholarships.
  • Students who graduate early or take leave may still be eligible if their preceding-semester performance meets the requirements.

First-year Students

The University offers an Elite Student Admission Scholarship and an admission award for outstanding freshmen from senior high schools in Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung.

Eastern Taiwan High School AwardFor outstanding freshmen from senior high schools in Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung who meet the residency, schooling, and admission requirements.

Five-Year Bachelor's–Master's Program

Apply from Junior Spring | Senior-year Tuition Discount

From Junior SpringUp to 5 per Academic Year

NDHU undergraduate students, including transfer students, may apply from the second semester of their junior year to take designated master's courses early. Students selected as pre-master's students who subsequently meet the progression requirements may receive a 50% tuition and miscellaneous-fee reduction during their senior year.

Tuition BenefitStudents first pay the full senior-year tuition and fees, then apply for a refund after being admitted to an NDHU master's program, earning the bachelor's degree as scheduled, and continuing directly into the first year of the master's program.
QuotaEach master's program, graduate institute, or master's degree program may offer up to five places per academic year; colleges may adjust allocations within the total quota.
Credit TransferPre-master's students who earn B− (70) or above in master's courses taken in advance may apply for credit transfer according to regulations; credits already counted toward the bachelor's degree may not be counted again.
Tuition Refund and Study Provisions
  • Refunds are based on tuition and miscellaneous fees actually paid during the senior year, excluding amounts already covered by public funding, tuition waivers, scholarships, or similar benefits.
  • Students must obtain the bachelor's degree by the end of the eighth semester and gain formal graduate-student status through master's admission screening, entrance examination, or an international-student admission channel.
  • Master's credit transfer is generally processed once before the add/drop deadline of the first semester. Eligible students may transfer all qualifying credits, but must study in the master's program for at least one year.

Tuition and Fee Waivers & Student Loans

Reducing the Cost of Study

Students who meet specified eligibility or household financial criteria may apply for tuition and fee waivers or student loans. Tuition, payment, waiver, and related fee information is available through the University Tuition and Fees Portal.

Tuition and Fee WaiversAvailable to eligible students such as Indigenous students, students from low-income or lower-middle-income households, students with disabilities, and students from families in special circumstances, subject to the announcement each semester.
Student LoansProcessed according to Ministry of Education and University regulations. Eligibility, loanable items, and guarantee procedures should be checked in the current announcement.

Financial-Need & Low-Income Scholarships

Financial Support and Scholarship Resources

The University provides several forms of financial aid and scholarship support for students with financial need, low-income family backgrounds, or other eligible circumstances. Eligibility, quotas, and application deadlines are subject to the latest announcements of the responsible units.

Disadvantaged Student AssistanceProvided under the Ministry of Education's assistance program for disadvantaged college students and the University's applicable rules.
Flying High Student AidDesigned for students with financial need; under the current scheme, undergraduate students are the primary target group.
Mrs. May Jen ScholarshipPrimarily supports students from low-income families with good conduct; undergraduate students in their second year or above may apply according to the regulations.
Chuan-Chih Fund ScholarshipAvailable to currently enrolled NDHU students subject to each announcement; categories include public service, certifications/competitions, and emergency assistance.

Emergency Assistance

Unexpected Emergencies and Major Family Hardship

Students who experience an unexpected emergency, major accident, or significant family hardship may apply for on- or off-campus emergency assistance under the applicable program. The Mrs. May Jen Scholarship also lists a major unexpected family hardship as one of its eligibility grounds.

On-campus Emergency AssistanceApply under the University's current student emergency-assistance rules and Student Living Services announcements.
Off-campus Emergency ResourcesThe Student Living Services Division also provides information on external emergency-assistance resources; eligibility depends on the rules of each provider.
Major Family HardshipThe Mrs. May Jen Scholarship accepts applications from students whose families have experienced a major unexpected hardship, subject to supporting documentation.

Financial Certification Award

Department of Economics Award

Current Economics Students Subject to Semester Announcement

This award encourages Economics students to obtain finance-related professional certifications and certifications such as Net-Zero Carbon Planning Manager, strengthening professional skills and employability.

Recent StandardFor Spring 2026 (AY 114-2), registration fees were reimbursed at actual cost, up to NT$500 per certification and NT$500 per student per semester.
Application RequirementsApplicants must obtain an eligible certification listed in the announcement within the specified semester and submit the required documents.

Teaching Assistantships (TA) & On-campus Employment

Teaching Participation & Student Employment

Department teaching assistantships generally give priority to non-employed master's and doctoral students. Qualified undergraduate students in their second year or above with strong academic performance may also serve as TAs.

General Student EmploymentDepartments, administrative units, and research projects also offer on-campus student employment opportunities.
