The Department offers three main admission pathways: domestic admission by recommendation and screening, the general admission examination, and international student admission. The domestic admission tables retain the original fields and information from the official admission brochures, while international applications follow the procedures announced by the NDHU Office of International Affairs. Actual quotas, dates, and regulations are subject to the official announcements for the relevant academic year.

  • Admission Pathways: 1. Admission by Recommendation and Screening; 2. General Admission Examination; 3. International Student Admission.
  • Degree Awarded: Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
  • Minimum Graduation Credits: 30 credits.
  • Department Highlights:
    1. Highly qualified faculty: All faculty members hold doctoral degrees from renowned universities in Taiwan or abroad.
    2. Strong connections with economics and finance professions: Graduates commonly work in public- and private-sector financial institutions and enterprises, and their disciplinary training provides an advantage in national civil service examinations.
    3. Eligible students may apply to enroll in elementary or secondary teacher education programs, including Social Studies and Civics.

Direct Admission Quota and RegulationsBased on document-review results, outstanding applicants may be admitted directly without a second-stage examination. Applicants who do not meet the direct-admission standard may be invited to the second-stage examination according to their first-stage results.

International Student Admission
  1. How to Apply: International applicants to the Ph.D. Program in Economics should follow the National Dong Hwa University International Student Admission Guidelines. The application process is administered by the NDHU Office of International Affairs, and all application procedures and documents must be completed through the online application system. Hard-copy applications are not accepted.
  2. Application Materials: Prepare the documents required by the admission guidelines for the relevant academic year, including proof of nationality, academic credentials, transcripts, autobiography and study plan, language proficiency certificate, financial statement, recommendation letters, and any other required materials.
  3. Scholarship Application: Applicants who wish to apply for an NDHU scholarship may indicate this in the online application system. Eligibility, award details, and related regulations are subject to the University's current announcements.
  4. Review and Interview: Applications first undergo document review. All doctoral applicants who pass the written review are required to participate in an interview conducted by the relevant department or college, typically by video or phone.
  5. Application Schedule: Application periods and result announcement dates are subject to the current schedule published by the Office of International Affairs.
